Host a Juli's Jewels Jewelry Party in Your Home.

Do you live in the Greater Sacramento area? Do you like jewelry and love an excuse to shop? How about a little free jewelry?

Hosting a Juli's Jewels jewelry party is a great way to get friends and family together to shop for yourselves and for gifts in a relaxed, fun, pressure-free atmosphere. I am present during the entire event, available to answer any questions and to take custom orders, but there will be no sales pitches or presentations. I want you and your guests to enjoy a casual and convenient shopping experience.

You just need to provide a location, guests, any refreshments you wish to have and send the invitations. I'll take care of the rest. It's a fun way to have a girls' night out and treat yourselves to some jewelry!

Every guest who attends will be entered in a drawing for a $25.00 Gift Certificate.

What's in it for you?
You will earn 10% of your party sales in free jewelry! You can use it toward your jewelry party purchase. Any amount not used will be put on a Juli's Jewels Gift Certificate issued to you via e-mail after the party for you to use at your convenience. Once you've decided to host a Party, please contact me here.

And if any of your guests book a party during yours, you will be sent another $10.00 Gift Certificate after their party ends.

My Broken Heart Mended

I created a heart design out of copper clay some time ago, after I left my bad marriage.

I was living on my own for literally the first time in my life and I'd found some good friends and created a support network for myself. I was beginning to heal and with that, I was finding a new voice in my art/jewelry making.

"My Broken Heart Mended" is a hand cut and textured copper clay heart featuring a "tear" design and sterling silver wire stitches. It has been patinaed with a hand held torch and allowed to oxidize. Here is the one i made for myself:

This one is mine.

Apparently it spoke to some people, because I've made it six more times; mostly necklaces, but once a bracelet and another time a brooch pin.

Here is a gallery of the others:

Tomorrow is thanksgiving. Thanks to all of you for your support. :-)

I've had no one nominate anyone yet for the Holiday giveaway. I'm not sure how I feel about that...you've got to know someone who deserves a little something extra for the holidays.

Juli's Jewels Schedule Through the Holidays

Hi all! Halloween is just 3 days from now and I'm ready, but just barely. Eight weeks 'til Christmas though, and I am certainly not ready, how about you?

To help you plan, here's a quick update on what's happening with Juli's Jewels through the holidays...you know, for gifts and stuff.

We have two craft shows coming up. The first is the St James Holiday Bazaar; it's on both Saturday and Sunday, November 9th and 10th from 9am to 3pm at 1375 B Street in Davis, California. The second is the YMCA Holiday Art, Craft and Gift Festival. It is Sunday, December 15th from 10am to 7pm at 2021 W Street in Sacramento, California.

We'll be offering free shipping on all orders from Black Friday through Cyber Monday! Please use coupon code FREESHIPNOV2013.

For quick and inexpensive gifts, don't forget the $10 Specials section of the shop and the Clearance 20% Off section, too! There's a lot of really nice jewelry in both of these shop sections, they just aren't really what I'm making anymore, so I thought I'd clear them out. There are some pretty awesome bargains in there, some of the $10 items are actually 1/2 price!

I've added over a hundred items to the shop with more being added all the time. Once I get all the items in I can back to the fun of making jewelry.

Juli's Jewels ArtFire Shop - What is up with the $10 Specials?

I need your help.

There, I said it. I need your help.

Those four little words are very hard to say, but I am finally saying them. One more time...I need your help. I need money to pay for my car insurance next month and I need to clear out jewelry that is just not what I am making these days. I need to have all the items sold by the end of November, which is awesome because it is just before Christmas! Think of the stockings you could stuff or the little co-worker gifts...the kid's teacher? How about your sister- or mother-in law?

Example of $10 Special
I will have at least 100 $10 items listed in my ArtFire Shop in the $10 Specials section. All of the items listed in the $10 Specials section will be worth $10 or more and are all very nice pieces, they just aren't really what I'm making these days and have been working on clearing them out of my shop anyway. Each person who purchases one of the $10 items will also receive a coupon for free shipping for their next order.

Most of you (my fans and followers of Juli's Jewels) only know me as the girl who makes jewelry and does give-aways and maybe gets a little too posty on facebook sometimes. I also write a blog about crafting business and life, I have an on line shop, I get pretty excited when someone adds one of my pieces to their ArtFire Collection, and practically squee myself when it gets on the front page. The people who know me think I'm nice. I'm introverted and shy, but once I get to know you and am comfortable enough to open up, you'll find me funny and caring. My heart is big and I believe in paying it forward. Frankly, those of you who do know me, know I'd really rather give the jewelry I make away than sell it...but can't because I'd quickly not be able to make anymore....all that being said, this is the hardest post I have ever written.

Please look over my ArtFire Shop in the $10 Specials section and find something awesome that you would like to give a home to, and help out a hand made jewelry artist in the process.

More fun with Enameling

I'm finally feeling comfortable enough with my enameling to add it to designs using my favorite metal, natural brass. The designs have been fun to play with and I like playing with colors and textures.

Here is what I've been doing, in order of completion:

Peirced and Layered
Lovely Layers
Stamped and Embossed
A little bit of everything
Textures and layered colors
I think they are really turning out nicely; what do you think?

Finished Bits; Enameled Pendants Become Pretty Jewelry

Here are pics of the finished pieces that I started at the VOX Mini Maker Fair. I'm really enjoying playing with layering the enameled pieces.

Demo Days - the VOX Mini Maker Faire Wrap Up

So, yesterday (Saturday, July 13, 2013), I did demonstrations of torch fired enameling at a really cool gallery space here in Sacramento, VOX. It was there first ever Mini Maker Faire. I certain after how well yesterday went, there will be more.

This was my very scaled down, but totally workable enameling space. I had both of my torches, 18 enamels and a lot of pieces (copper blanks and iron filigree beads) to demonstrate with.

Here I am showing Luke some basic torch fired enameling.

Working a bead in the torch flame.

There were quite a few people who came by the event and got to paint with TJ Lev, sculpt clay with LaLa Ortiz and Rachel Young, make bots and color with Eric Sweiven, check out the awesome yarn bomb styling a of Rebel Threadz and she brought some cool break dancers with her.

These are all the pieces I enameled while demonstrating.

It was a good night and I look forward to doing it again.

I've been pinned!

Pinterest, I've been there. I've checked it out. It could be a major time suck in my like if I'd let it, so I kind of make a point of not going there too often. So, lo and behold, I was on there and I put in julisjewels just to see what came up and I found I'd been pinned...a few times at that.

Wanna see what pinterest people found in my ArtFire shop to pin?

Updates

This past month has been very busy over at the Juli's Jewels worldwide headquarters! I have been working on updating and or correcting my prices, getting better photos and descriptions in the ArtFire shop, doing a 2nd Saturday art show at Vox in Sacramento, preparing for 3rd Saturday at the Downtown Plaza (new location this month, 4th & K Streets), and starting to pull stuff together for my crafting cruise, while still making sure to spend quality time with my fur boys and my friends...whew!

This is a picture of my newest piece "Steampunk Style". The necklace is 20" long and features a hammered flat skelton key, tumbled citrine nuggets (wire wrapped for security) and an ornate chain (looks kinda like a silhouette of a peanut) and finished with a lobsterclaw clasp. The pendant has hand rivited gear elements (including one from old watch bits). It is available currently in my ArtFire shop for $38.00 (plus tax if you live in California).
This month's 3rd Saturday is on March 20th from noon to 5pm again at the Downtown Plaza in Sacramento. This month the location has moved from the L Street Shops location (approximately 5th & L streets) to 4th & K, which is the end by the movie theaters, Women's Macy's, Forever 21, the food court, etc. Stop by and sat hello.
I am not sure if I will be partcipating in the April 3rd Saturday yet, as it is the saturay after I get back from my fabulous trip/vacation. I will be attending the Crafty Chica Art Cruise next month and am very excited, as there will be much glitter! I will let you know though, about 3rd Saturday.
On a non-jewelry note...4 of my collages are currently hanging at Vox (in the Urban Hive at 19th & H) until April 5th. Woohoo! Stop by and check them out. Oh, and if you are interested, they are for sale.
So, until next time...cheers!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween all! I'm feeling very treaty lately (no tricks, just treats!) and I love sharing treats.

Currently, if you buy anything in my ArtFire shop, I will throw in the Halloween Treat Bag 'o Fun.

Plus, if you have read this far...I'm going to do another give-away. Tell me a little story about your favorite Halloween costume and you could win this necklace. It is a fabulously glittered witch image in a bottle cap presented on an 18" cotton cord. I will pick someone at random from the comments, on Friday October 30th.

Enjoy your week and have a happy Halloween.

Cheers, Juli

Halloween Treats for You.

 Halloween fun for everyone!

This weekend at 3rd Saturday, I will be partnering up with Dyana Martin of DyMa Creations. Please come by and check out her fabulous hats.

As Halloween draws nearer, I have become all nostalgic, thinking about Halloweens past and all the fun of trick-or-treating (I must admit, I have never done a trick, more's the pity.).

I have decided that I will share the fun of trick-or-treating with you. If you purchase any Halloween item from my ArtFire Shop or from me at a craft fair ( I will be vending at 3rd Saturday this weekend, look for me on 11th between K & L Streets, across from Ambrosia Cafe) I will give you the Halloween Treat Bag of Fun.

I have just made some new pieces, including my current favorite, the Poison Necklace (a simple soldered pendant on black suede lace). The new items will be uploaded to my shop by this evening, and I will have a few more items at the show this weekend.

Hope you all have a happy Halloween!

ArtFire-Have you checked it out yet?

By now, many of you have heard of Etsy, but have you heard of ArtFire? Etsy and ArtFire are both websites where artisans can sell there handmade goodies via the interwebs without having a website of their own. This is great, as many artisans can only do this sort of thing part time, what with the day jobs and all. (It is a rare and lucky individual who can do what they love for a living, and they still have to work at it 24/7.)

I have chosen to be on ArtFire and here’s why:

1. Membership for sellers-There are two membership levels for sellers, Basic and Verified. Basic is free, Verified costs a nominal amount ($12 a month, I think). I am Basic. The nice thing about this is I can be come Verified easily, and if I don’t like it, I can go back to be Basic just as easily.

2. You, the buyer (I hope), DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER WITH ARTFIRE, you can just shop and buy stuff without having to give them (ArtFire) all of your personal information forever. (You do need to give some info, otherwise how can we send you your stuff?)

3. You can shop from my blog. See that thing over there called Rapid Cart? If you see something you like, you can buy it right now. (Again, without registering with ArtFire…)

4. Back to the fee thing…because there are no listing/final/etc fees on ArtFire, I can charge the exact same prices I would charge if I was selling you stuff at a craft fair. I don’t have to raise my prices to meet the fees.

So, have you checked out ArtFire yet? Well get going…here’s a link to make it easier.

Oh, and if you want to get to my shop directly… julisjewels.artfire.com …hope to see you there soon!

September Schedule-2009

It's that time again! Here is my schedule for September. No, that is not a typo. Yes, I do have two shows on one day. If I were you, I'd come to 3rd Saturday Design Downtown just to see how I'm holding up.
Oh, quick reminder, the holidays will be here before you know it.
